For security purposes, SBI Debit Cards are issued in an inactive mode. To use the card for ATM withdrawals and online payments, you must activate it before using it.
Don’t worry you don’t need to visit the branch or ATM, you can now use the YONO SBI mobile application to activate your Debit card and ATM PIN,

Activate SBI Debit Card & Set ATM PIN Online | YONO App Guide
(Step 1) Login to YONO SBI mobile banking and click on “Cards” to manage your debit card.
(Step 2) On the My Cards screen, open ‘My Debit Cards‘
(Step 3) In the My Debit cards screen select your bank account number and here you will find the “Activate Card” option.
(Step 4) In the Did you receive the debit card? pop-up, tap on the “Yes” option
(Step 5) You need to submit your Debit card number on the next screen. The card number is printed on the front side of your card along with the expiry date. Read also: Check SBI Virtual Debit Card Details Online
(Step 6) Once you submit your new Debit card number, you will be asked to enter the OTP sent on your mobile number linked with your bank account. Enter the OTP and submit. You can use the “Resend OTP’ option if you didn’t receive the OTP.
You have successfully activated your SBI Debit card on the YONO SBI app. Now you need to set up an ATM PIN for your card. For this you don’t need to visit the ATM, YONO SBI also offers an ATM PIN generation facility for new Debit cards.
To set up an ATM PIN for your new Debit Card on the YONO SBI App, please follow the below steps:
(Step 1) In the My Debit cards screen, you can see your new debit card image, just below tap on the ‘Set/Reset ATM PIN‘
(Step 2) Now create a PIN for your new Debit card and submit. Authenticate your request by entering the OTP sent on your mobile number on the next screen.
Once you authenticate with OTP, your PIN for the new Debit card will be ready. Now your new Debit card is fully activated and ready for use.
If YONO SBI is not active on your phone then don’t worry you can use your Net Banking username and login password to activate it on your phone. You can also use Net banking to activate your debit card.
