SBI Debit card can be used for International transactions (online or offline) but first, you need to enable your Debit card to use it Internationally. If you have SBI International Debit card then you can use your card globally without any restrictions. If you have a domestic Debit card then you can not use it worldwide. I’m not sure but Rupay Debit cards currently work only for domestic level transactions.
After enabling your SBI Debit cars for global usage, you can use your Debit card on PayPal, International websites where different currency accepted, worldwide ATMs and shops.

Activate International Transactions for SBI ATM Debit card by SMS
You can easily activate International transactions for your SBI ATM Debit card by sending SMS from your registered mobile number. Please send an SMS from your bank registered mobile number in the below format:
Type ‘SWON<space>INTL<space>last 4-digits card number” & send to 092239 66666
(Example: SWON INTL 2222)
If you are using your Debit card for online international transactions then you need to send another SMS to activate e-commerce transactions:
Type “SWON<space>ECOM<space>last 4-digits card number” & send to 092239 66666
After sending these SMS from your registered mobile number, your SBI Debit card will be ready to use for global transactions.
You can also use SBI Quick mobile app to send SMS automatically.
Enable International Usage for SBI Debit Card online using Mobile Banking
SBI customers can also enable International transactions for the Debit card by login to SBI Mobile Banking app (SBI YONO lite). You just need to turn ON International usage option and you are done.
Login to SBI YONO Lite Mobile Banking application.
After login tap and open Services.
Next screen select Manage Debit card option.
Now select your Debit card number and turn ON International usage and submit. Please turn ON e-commerce (CNP) txns option also if you are going to use your Debit card online. Now submit your request.
Activate International use for SBI Debit card through SBI YONO
You can also manage your Debit card usage through SBI YONO app and enable International transactions for your SBI Debit card.
Login to SBI YONO mobile app and open Service Request option.
In-Service Request, tap and open the ATM/Debit card section as you can see below screenshot.
Now tap on Manage Card option
Finally, select your account number and Debit card number and tap on Manage Usage. Turn ON International usage and E-commerce transaction and submit.
SBI Debit card: Enable International transactions using SBI Net Banking
SBI Internet banking is another option to enable International transactions for SBI Debit card.
- Login to SBI Net Banking and tap on Request and Services.
- Select ATM Debit card services
- Now select Manage ATM card option.
- Next screen you can enable international transactions for your Debit card
